Hi, we are 2D Xtreme!
Or 2DX, for short.
We're a student-led club from the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD), and the biggest 2D animation resource for students outside of classes.
Through engaging workshops, projects, and events, we empower our members to explore their artistic potential, expand their knowledge of 2D animation techniques, and showcase their talents.

What is 2D Animation?
2D Animation is the art of creating the illusion of movement in a 2 dimensional space. This is achieved by putting a series of 2D drawings together and playing them in rapid succession, so as to appear they're moving.
There are a few different techniques within the 2D realm: the traditional, hand-drawn one, in which each frame is drawn from scratch by the artist; and what is called "puppeting", "2D puppet" or "rigging", in which the artist manipulates one singular drawing and "pins"/keys each new pose, much like if they were manipulating a paper doll. The latter is usually used for animated TV shows, as it is quicker, but it often also looks stiffer, depending on how much time animators spend on it.
At 2DX, we cover all types of 2D animation, however, since we feel it's important for students to have as much knowledge as possible.
